Account Manager

The Sales Department exists to create and grow relationships with our customers, to deliver a sector leading Customer Experience before, during and after the procurement process and to provide a sales turnover and margin contribution to the business.

The Role

To develop relationships with our customers at all levels to facilitate the organic growth targets of the business.

Key Tasks:

  • Develop relationships at all levels with our key customers/targets

  • Develop sales plans to target customer groups

  • Utilise account planning processes to create informative customer profiles

  • Customer site visits to maintain relationships at site level

  • Resolution of any customer issues to maintain long term relationships

  • Promotion of new products and services to customer sales and commercial departments

  • Feedback on market intelligence linked to customers and competitors

  • Take ownership of the key account through sales, estimating, production, customer care & contract

  • Be the link between customer site and customer office environments

  • Key Contact for all stakeholders within key accounts

Skills:

  • Understand selling as a process – Management of sales funnel

  • Can demonstrate a good understanding of the design process

  • Good planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to upsell when the opportunity arises

  • Can communicate well using a variety of mediums that include, visual, auditory and written.

  • Ability to defend company position while acknowledging the need for resolution

  • An inherent strong team ethic approach

  • Has the ability to decipher technical drawings

  • Computer literate with sound experience of Powerpoint, Excel, MS Project, Word and Outlook

Knowledge:   

  • Kitchen, Bedroom, Bathroom furniture product knowledge is useful but not essential

  • Knowledge of the house building industry is an advantage

  • Knowledge of customer procurement, negotiation and contract management

  • Build and maintain product knowledge and awareness of competitor activity and pricing

  • Build and maintain key account profile information

Experience:

  • Previous experience working within a sales or sales service environment in the KBB furniture industry

  • Understand range selling to provide the complete package

  • Has established and maintained strong customer relationships

  • Can demonstrate sales and product differentiation through service

  • Has worked within the structure of an ERP system

  • Understands the critical link between customer service and sales

  • Possible trade background

Qualifications:

  • Educated to Higher Level

  • Preferable in-house or external sales training
